PROFILE

EDUCATION

12/2004 Ph.D. at the State University of Milan (XVII cycle), Italy.

Thesis: Dynamics of Non-Equilibrium States in Solids Induced by Ultrashort Coherent Pulses. Supervisors: Prof. Fulvio Parmigiani and Prof. Rodolfo Bonifacio. The project was accomplished in collaboration with INFM.

03/2001 Graduated in Physics at the State University of Milan, obtaining the final grade of 110/110 e lode.

Thesis: Experimental and Theoretical study of the system Pd/H and Pd/D. Supervisor: Prof. Luigi Zanotti. The project was accomplished at ENEA in Frascati, in collaboration with INFN.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

2013-2014 Italian Scientific Qualification for Professorship in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics (02/B1) and Applied Physics (02/B3).

11-12/2012 Visiting Professor at the Quantum Materials Laboratory, Department of Physics & Astronomy, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.

2012 Leader of the Ultrafast electron dynamics of correlated materials group at I-LAMP.

2007 Permanent position as researcher (FIS/03 Condensed Matter Physics) at the Mathematics and Physics Department of the Catholic University in Brescia.

RESEARCH SUBJECTS

At present, he is involved in the following research topics:

  • Ultrafast electron dynamics in High-Tc superconductors
  • Non-equilibrium superconductivity
  • Electronic properties of strongly correlated systems
  • Photo-induced phase transitions in metal oxides
  • Time-resolved optical spectroscopy
  • Electronic and optical properties at the nanoscale

PROJECTS AND COLLABORATIONS

He is local responsible and coordinator of the experimental activities of the EU FP7 2010 project: GO FAST(Governing ultrafast the conductivity of correlated materials), started in April 2012.

He collaborates to various international research projects. In particular, he is effectively collaborating with Prof. Fulvio Parmigiani, Università degli Studi di Trieste; Prof. A. Damascelli, University of British Columbia (CA); Prof. M. Greven, University of Minnesota (USA); and Prof. Dirk van der Marel, Université de Genève, for the study of non-equilibrium superconductivity in high-Tc superconductors.

PUBLICATIONS AND TALKS

He is author of >40 publications on international peer reviewed journals. In the last two years, he has been corresponding author of publications in Applied Physics Letters, Physical Review B, Nature Communications and Science, reportithe results obtained by novel time-resolved spectroscopies. Google citations.

In the last years he gave 45 talks and Lectures in international Conferences, Workshops and Schools and in Universities (21 in the last 3 years).

He is referee for the journals Nuclear Inst. and Methods in Physics Research A, Chemical Physics Letters, Physical Review B, Physical Review Letters, Nature Communications and Science, for the Research Projects of National Interest (PRIN) of the Italian Ministry of Instruction, University and Research and for the Romanian and French governments for the U.S. Department of Energy and for the Dutch Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM).
